Wine Description & Tasting Notes

Osado White Malbec is a must-try for adventurous wine lovers looking to explore Malbec beyond its traditional red form. Whether you’re seeking a refreshing summer white or a wine with a unique story, this rare expression from Mendoza offers an unforgettable tasting experience.

“Being Osado is not about being fearless, or not having second thoughts. Being Osado means living without prejudice, being free of any obligations and building your own way of life.” The distinctive expression of the Uco Valley, where unique wines are produced.

Much like its red counterpart, the Malbec grapes are hand-harvested but the clusters were pressed softly at very low pressure so that the must did not take on any colour from the skin. This previously unimaginable concept has now created a Blanc de Noir style nose and palate in a still wine with an interesting addition of texture rarely found except in high end wines.

Nose: A beautifully aromatic bouquet, bursting with white flowers, citrus blossoms, and stone fruits. Notes of peach, apricot, and pear intertwine with hints of orange zest and floral undertones, creating an inviting and complex nose.

Palate: Refreshing and well-structured, with vibrant acidity and a silky mouthfeel. Flavors of ripe peach, green apple, and lemon zest dominate, followed by a hint of minerality and subtle spice. The finish is long and elegant, leaving a crisp and lingering impression.

Food Pairing Recommendations

Osado White Malbec’s balance of fruit, acidity, and texture makes it an incredibly versatile food wine:

  • Seafood: Pairs wonderfully with grilled prawns, ceviche, oysters, and sushi, enhancing the freshness of the dish.
  • Poultry & White Meat: Complements roast chicken, turkey, and pork tenderloin, especially when served with light citrus or herb-based sauces.
  • Soft Cheeses: Matches beautifully with brie, camembert, and fresh goat cheese, balancing their creamy textures.
  • Vegetarian Dishes: Ideal with asparagus risotto, grilled zucchini, and citrus-infused salads.
  • Spicy Cuisine: The crisp acidity provides a refreshing contrast to lightly spiced Thai, Indian, or Mexican dishes.

Vineyard & Winemaking

The Osado Wines Philosophy

Osado Wines is part of Bodega Mascota Vineyards, a producer known for pushing boundaries and crafting expressive wines that challenge tradition. With Osado White Malbec, the winemakers sought to highlight Malbec’s aromatic and textural potential in a fresh, white wine style—something rarely seen in the world of viticulture.

How is White Malbec Made?

Despite being a red grape variety, Malbec can be transformed into a white wine by gently pressing the grapes and removing the skins before fermentation. This prevents color extraction while preserving the delicate floral and fruit characteristics of the grape. The wine is then fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures to maintain its bright aromas and crisp acidity.

The Mendoza Wine Region – Argentina’s Wine Heartland

Why Mendoza?

Located at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, Mendoza is Argentina’s premier wine-growing region, producing some of the world’s finest Malbec wines. The region benefits from:

  • High Altitude Vineyards: Grapes grown at elevations above 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) develop intense aromatics and fresh acidity.
  • Sunny & Dry Climate: Over 300 days of sunshine per year allow for optimal ripening while maintaining balance and freshness.
  • Pure Mountain Water: Meltwater from the Andes provides essential irrigation, ensuring consistent grape quality.
  • Unique Terroir: A combination of alluvial soils, rocky subsoils, and low humidity contributes to Mendoza’s reputation for producing wines with concentration and elegance.
