Wine Description & Tasting Notes
The Gonzo Combat Rouge is an inter-regional blend. Pinot noir and Viognier sourced from a site in the Southern Valleys of Marlborough with the Cab Franc sourced from a site in Hawkes Bay. Put to bottle un-fined and unfiltered.
Co-fermented with whole bunch fermentation. The results is a beautifully supple yet plush and ripe red wine with sweet, spicy raspberry and cherry fruit. We’ve found it drinks best slightly chilled on a warm evening.
Vandal Wines is the side project of three Marlborough based winemakers allowing them to experiment with methods they wouldn’t usually get to bottle. But fret not, despite their experimental nature all the Vandal wines are made with the aim of being easily ‘smashable’!
